I know what you mean, I have a notepad file that contains notes on the Inuyasha manga chapters because when the new chapters come out, I have to be sure not to get confused or forget something useful since its every other week and I read other things too. I've noticed Rumiko Takahashi does that as well, after reading Ranma 1/2 and seeing some of her other works. Inuyasha is great, but now its gotten to the point where Inuyasha just gets new attacks with every new little trouble and its quite tiring. ^^;
The anime ended at episode 167, and Naraku was not defeated. He hasn't been defeated in the manga either. It ended with Inuyasha finally using a shard.
